SEC Indoor

So I finally have time to post about my race in Kentucky 2 weeks ago, although it's not something that I want to post about.
My coach put me in the 3000 meter race because he thought there would be 2 heats. The rules at this meet in the distance races were that they would pull runners who got lapped until only 12 remained. If there were 2 heats, it was less likely that I would get lapped. Well, we get to the track and find out there is only 1 heat...26 girls, one of them being Sarah Bowman, an incredible runner.
My focus shifted from trying to get a pr to just trying to finish the race. The race started at a fast pace, and I started at that pace too, the fastest I've ever started. However, I could not keep up with the pack or the pace. I still ran as hard as I could (although looking back I wish I would have gone harder) but when I crossed the line at 2 laps to go, I hear the bell go off, meaning that there is someone behind me who only has one lap to go...meaning that I'm about to get lapped. I didn't know how far behind the girl was, but I picked up my pace a lot so that she wouldn't lap me. Unfortunately, with a lap and a half to go, Sarah Bowman laps me, and I got pulled out of the race.
I was absolutely devastated! I had let myself down, but most of all, I felt like I had let my team and my coaches down. However, my team was so proud of me for how well I ran...I was on pace to pr. And my coach, to my surprise, was not upset at all. I have such a great team!
I have to keep things in perspective...this is just one race, and I learned a lot from it. Now I just have to focus on outdoor season!

You didn't let anyone down....I don't think you ever will, you cant! Its just the way the cookie crumbles. It happens to the best of us.
Take care of this Achilles.
