I took my first summer class today and it was so exciting...not! I'm taking organic chemistry: the lecture and the lab at University of Memphis. It's only four weeks long, but after just the first day, I can tell that it's going to be rough. I don't mind the lecture that much, but I hate lab! Countless people have told me how hard this course is, but I hope that since it's the only course I'm taking that I'll be able to focus on it and make a good grade.
Today also marked the beginning of summer base training...officially. I've been running since I got home, and it's been going very well, but I am now on a schedule that my coach sent me. I was so excited to start today, but another part of my body, other than my achilles, toenails, and blisters, started bothering me (it actually started on yesterday's run). Sorry if this is TMI, but I think I pulled something in my butt (the left side to be exact). I was struggling to run five miles this morning. It is so painful and the pain shoots down my left leg so I am limping while running/trying to run. I'm going to try to run again tomorrow and see how it feels. I'm supposed to have a workout: 5X4 minutes steady with 4 minutes rest between each one. I really don't want to take any more time off since I took off so much with my achilles. What I would give for my body to feel "normal" on a run. I think the last time it did was back in February.
Well, I'm off to bed since I'm now getting up early again! By the way, the moon is beautiful tonight!

how high in your butt? like where you hamstring attaches to your butt...up under there? if so, that's the injury that i've had for years, and until i finally quit running completely to let it heal, i haven't had pain. i just wonder since i had the same shooting pains. you're too new to running to be experiencing these pains! arg. look up high hamstring tendonothopy (spelling?) i'm in fl right now, but let's do lunch sometime since you're at the u of memphis for class.
Oh no!!! Sweet Loren... what in the world is going on!? OK, I'm calling you for details and updates. In the meantime I love you and hope the 12th injury gets better!
So I hear organic turned into a no-go ;) But I had no idea that you developed yet another injury ... what a pain in the rear. Literally.
