Runner's High

Running is euphoric for me...that is why I love it so much. But it has been quite some time since I have have experienced a "runner's high," since I had to take so much time off. Today's workout, however, was simply a euphoric experience. I felt that runner's high that makes me want to run faster and longer. I was very apprehensive about today's workout. It was a 4 mile tempo run. The last time I did a tempo run was in May, so I had no idea what kind of pace I would be at. The rest of the team did 3 400's before starting the tempo. I felt really good the first mile, but I wanted to stay conservative because I didn't want to die after the first mile. I felt just as good, if not better, the next 2 miles. The last mile was hard, but it still felt really good. I finished the 4 miles in 25:35 (6:26, 12:56, 19:26, 25:35). I felt so much better than I expected to feel, and I surprised myself with my time. I did 3 400's with the rest of the team after the tempo, and actually felt really good during those too!
I am so, soooo thankful that I have been able to run. But even though this week has been really good, I'm still being very cautious with my injury. I'm listening to my body and trying to be smart. I'm also remembering that it is only by God's grace that I am able to run, and it is only for his glory that I run. He is the one that is giving me strength each day, and it's for his name's sake that I continue to run. My prayer is that he will use my running to bring himself glory, and to make his name known. I am merely a vessel, a tool for him to use.

1/4 avocado, chopped into chunks
1/4 green bell pepper, chunked
1/2 slice of red onion, broken apart
1/2 grilled chicken breast, cubed
~ 6 sprigs of cilantro, ripped up as much as possible
~ 2 handfuls of ripped up romaine lettuce
1/4 Lime
Fresh Ground Pepper

Rip the cilantro and the lettuce up together. Make sure there's no huge chunks of cilantro sticking out anywhere. Add the onion, pepper, avocado, and chicken on top. Juice the lime over the salad, and grind with fresh black pepper to taste. You could also wrap this up, too! Mmmm...
