Just an Update

It has been a long and busy week. Sorry I have been lazy on the blog. Although it has been a crazy week, it has also been really good. We have had some very hard runs. Tuesday, Simone and I ran 10 miles at 7:00 pace, and it was definitely a workout, but went really well. Wednesday was not much of a recovery day since we did 5 miles in the morning and afternoon and neither of the runs were done at an easy pace. Thursday was another hard long run, this time only 8 miles, but I think we were going a bit faster than 7:00 pace. Today coach changed our workout 3 times due to 18 mph winds. We were originally supposed to do 5X1200, then he changed it to 6X1000, and then to 3X2000. We were going to do it on the track, but with the last workout change, he changed it to the road. I was very happy with the final change! I was really worried about doing 1200's or 1000's on the track, especially with the wind. The 2k's were very hard, but went really well. Now I am exhausted! I am really enjoying this training though. I know going long and hard will benefit my training, maybe not immediately, but for later in the season.

Along with running, my week has been busy with spiritual things, which is AWESOME! Wednesday night, Renee and I decided to go to church choir practice. I sang in high school, and I have really missed singing since then so it was nice to sing again. It was also really good to meet some of the women in the church. I don't want to be just another college student in the church...I really want to be involved and get to know people of all ages. After choir, we went to the university minister's house with about 10 other people for worship and prayer. Let me just say that this sort of thing should be happening more often. It was so so good to be with a small group of people worshiping God and praying together about a lot of needs in our own lives, at MSU, and in Starkville. God was definitely present and it was such a sweet time of worship.

Renee and I are going through the book Desiring God by John Piper together this semester, and we met to discuss the first chapter yesterday at a cute little cafe that we had never been to, but will definitely be going back to. I am so excited about going through this book with her. God has really blessed me by putting her in my life. It is so wonderful to have a friend who I can share things with, emotionally and spiritually, and I can trust her with anything I tell her. A friendship really deepens and strengthens when you start to share struggles and hold each other accountable. I thank God for the friend she is to me, and I pray that our friendship continues to grow.

This week I made some black bean patties, which were so yummy. The recipe was actually for black bean hamburgers, but I just ate the patty and cooked lots of veggies. Last night I made salmon with pesto: YUMMY! The pesto was made with spinach leaves, basil, garlic, olive oil, and chicken broth. The salmon, topped with the pesto, cooked in the oven. I should have taken a picture, but I will definitely making it again so I will snap a pic then.

Sorry if this was a boring post and just sounded like a journal of the things I did this week. Just wanted to give everyone an update :)

P.S. I memorized Psalm 19 this week. It is such a good chapter...you should go read it!
