Lent

I'm not catholic, but I think the concept of lint is a pretty cool one. I've only done it twice: the first time I gave up mountain dew, which I don't drink anymore since I don't drink carbonation; the second time (last year) I gave up chocolate. Unfortunately, I still eat chocolate. This year I want to do something a little different. I think someone gave me this idea last year, but I can't remember who it was. Instead of giving something up for 40 days, I'm going to commit to adding something for 40 days. This year, I am committing to memorize one bible verse a day. I'm pretty excited about this challenge, I just hope I can do it. I still want to give something up, though, since that's what you are supposed to do for lint. So I think I've decided to give up eating past 9:00 at night. I don't really struggle with this too much, but on the weekends I think I do it pretty often. For some reason, when I get off my weekday routing for eating, everything goes downhill. Hopefully this commitment will help me stay on track (of course it doesn't limit what I eat during the day, so I will have to really watch it on the weekends!)

for lent you can either commit to something or give up something. You don't have to do both, unless you like a challenge :) This year I will not be giving up lent for lent, I'm giving up sweets (all of them, no exceptions.)

I sometimes think of Lent as a trial period for some resolutions I want might want to try out in the future but was too intimidated to commit for a full year! 40 days I can handle!
