Awesome Workout

Yesterday we had a killer workout (we seem to be having lots of those lately). We did 7x1000 with 60 seconds recovery between each. This was the same workout we did 2 weeks ago, just 1 less. The goal was to average a faster pace than the last time, even if by only 1 second.

I was pretty nervous, but also excited. Last time my average was 4:04 (it would have been faster but I fell off a lot on the last 2). I really wanted my average to be under 4 this time. We went through the first 1000 at 3:51. I got really nervous because I thought we started too fast. I thought we would slow down a little, but the second one was also 3:51. I was worried that starting the workout this fast would cause me to die at the end, but I wanted to stay with the pack. Coach Franks told us to not be afraid or surprised at our fitness. I would normally slow down because I don't think I can run the whole workout at that pace, but I decided to stick with it, even if I died at the end.

Our slowest 1000 was 3:53 (faster than my fastest time the last workout), and our fastest was 3:49. My average was 3:52- 12 seconds faster than 2 weeks ago! I definitely surprised myself during this workout, but it helped me to learn not to sell myself short. I need to trust in the training I've been doing and not be afraid to take risks.

I wrote about teamwork in my last post. Teamwork was huge during this workout. I ran the whole workout with a pack of 5 other girls. I could not have done the workout without them. Part of the reason I did so much better was because I ran with this pack. We did so well running together and pushing each other!

This workout was a huge confidence booster for me. I really needed a good workout so I could be more confident about the race on Saturday. I am still extremely nervous, but now I have a little more confidence in my running. I give all praise to God because my strength comes from Him. No matter what happens in my race Saturday, I pray that He receives all the glory!

5K in Athens, Georgia Saturday at 8:00.
FOOTBALL GAME AGAINST MEMPHIS AT 6:00!!! I'm ready to break out my cowbell!
