Saturday, in Knoxville, I ran my last race of the year to finish my first season as an SEC cross-country runner. Race conditions definitely could have been better. While the temperature was great, the wind and the many hills resulted in a slow race for everyone. My legs were ready for this race. They were rested and ready to run a great race. However, my lungs were not so ready. I ran the best race I could, but I know I could have gone so much faster had I been able to breathe normally. Although my time was slower than I had hoped for in this 6K (23:56), I am happy with how I did. I could not have given any more of myself in the race.
This semester has gone by incredibly fast. It has been a great first season of running for college and I look forward to seeing how much faster I can get once indoor track season begins. Like most college freshman, I have made many mistakes this semester, but God has used each one to teach me and draw me closer to himself. I pray that He has used me this semester and will continue to use me here at Mississippi State, especially with my teammates. May all that I do and say bring honor and glory to him.
