Now that the stress of exams is finally over, I have time to write for the first time in a long time. There are so many things I could write about, but I will go with what's on my mind right now.
I am currently training for indoor track, which begins in January. My runs last week went great, and I had an incredible workout on Wednesday. Things suddenly changed on Saturday. We had to run 1000 meters 7 times. The most we did in cross country season was 6, so I was expecting a pretty difficult workout. My expectations were met above and beyond. This was probably one of the worst workouts I have had since I have been on the team. After talking to my coach, I felt a lot better about how it went, but I was still pretty frustrated. My runs Sunday and Monday did not get much better. I will spare you all the details, but, in short, my right leg gave out every step I took in my runs so I was pretty much limping while running. My workout Tuesday was just as bad as Saturday. It's so frustrating not being able to do my workouts like I have in the past, and it's even more frustrating not knowing what the problem is.
However, to look on the bright side of things, I have been very humbled during my workouts and runs. I have been reminded that I am completely dependent on God, and He is the One who even allows me to run. It is very easy for me to lose sight of that, but God continually finds ways to remind me of it. Hopefully my running will go back to normal, but if not, I still give Him all the praise and glory.

what's going on with your leg?
I wish I knew :( The trainer told me it is probably a little tendonitis. It has gotten better since the beginning of the week, though.
Hi Loren, I found your blog through Jan. She has told me incredible things about you before, and after sifting through your blog, I agree! Congrats on a great first year running in college! Super cool!
thanks so much! i read through some of your blog today...awesome! i hope to one day do an ironman as well (it may be a long time though)
i went to the doc last week to see about my hamstring, and the physical therapist introduced me to the foam roller. have you seen a foam roller before? it's WONDERFUL! you can get one at Relax The Back near the Oak Court Mall (on the other side of Poplar). You can do all sorts of deep tissue massage with it...hamstrings, quads, it band, calves. you may want to look into it for injury prevention. i wish i had known about it sooner!
i have one but i don't use it very often. i'm still not really sure how to use it very well. i should use it more, though.
