It's Time for an Update

I finally have time to update and I feel like there is so much to tell!

1.) Ever since spring break, I have been worried about my living situation for next year. Two plans fell through and I needed to make a decision very soon. Along with my wonderful parents and many people from my home church, I was praying that God would open a door. Last night my prayer was answered, and the answer was even better than I expected. I now have an apartment with three other girls that is right next to campus, and it is an incredible deal!

2.) I have hated being injured, but one positive thing is that I have gotten to know and love my teammate Renee, who is also injured, so much more than I used to. We have had some great conversations over the past couple of weeks, one of which is about our team next year. We want to start a bible study for the girls on the team next fall. I am so excited. I already feel very close to my teammates, but a bible study, I think, will bring us even closer and provide more support and accountability.

3.) I HAVE BEEN RUNNING!!!!! I started easy runs about two weeks ago while still cross training every day. I worked up to 45 minutes and ran that long for five days straight with very little pain! Tuesday I ran an hour with my teammate Simone, who I have really missed training with. It didn't feel the best, but I had gone a little harder than what my foot was ready for, so at least I knew why there was pain. Today I actually did a mini workout! 15 minute warm up. 3X5 minutes steady with equal rest. 15 minute cool down. Even though the wind was brutal, it felt so good to run at a faster pace...with no pain!! I began to feel tightness on the cool down so I took it very slow and easy. Tomorrow I will cross train to let my foot rest and recover.

4.) This is gross so you may want to skip to #5. I have a toe nail that has been bothering me since last summer. During indoor track it got worse and has continued to worsen. I am on medicine, but I just found out today that the toe nail will most likely fall off...EWW!! This may be weird, but any injury to a finger nail or toe nail completely freaks me out, especially if it's on me. I can't even look at my toe because it makes me sick! However, I am ready for the nail to come off because even though it's only a toe nail, it causes me much pain.

5.) No classes tomorrow! 2 more weeks until exams! This also means that work is piling up, but I am taking it one day at a time. This year has gone by incredibly fast, but it has been a great freshman year.

6.) Where the battle rages, there the loyalty of the soldier is proven.

I think what made me laugh is the toenail worry- just you wait, Loren, my one toenail 8 years ago has turned into so many more. ha ha! :) I am so glad you are starting to run again. It was good to be smart and see the big picture. What I have realized going through this injury is that everyone has them- pros, elites, world champs, every day people. It is just part of the sport. So you learn and move on. Plus, now you are on your way to becoming a triathlete with your cross training!!! okay, come and visit in the summer. :)
