I'm Becoming a Carnivore

I went to see a nutritionist on Wednesday to talk about my diet in regards to sugar and iron. Seeing and talking to her was just more assurance of my passion and desire to become a nutritionist! She doesn't think my blood sugar is an issue, but we did talk a lot about my iron, and she gave me a list of good sources of iron. My diet isn't going to change drastically; I will just start incorporating more iron-rich foods. This week I made a spaghetti meat sauce out of ground sirloin and ate spaghetti Monday-Thursday night, so I think I got my red meat in for this week! It has been slightly affecting my stomach because I'm not used to eating red meat, but hopefully my body will get used to it soon! I'm not just going to eat lots of red meat, though; iron is also found in beans, spinach, and some cereals. But the iron in meat is the best because of how easily it is absorbed.

I have just been doing easy runs this whole week. Doing lots of mileage and/or workouts would be making everything worse, so this week was focused on rest and getting my iron back up. I really feel like I needed an easy week, but I'm not feeling much better yet. I know it's going to take a few weeks to feel close to normal so I'm just trying to be patient. Even though it's frustrating, I am so happy to know what's wrong! Praise God!

Two more days of verse memory! I am so glad I chose to do this! There are so many benefits to memorizing scripture. I will definitely keep memorizing after lent is over. There are a few chapters that I want to memorize, so I may start working on that next week! I will say all my verses on Sunday to Renee!

Hope you all are enjoying this gorgeous Good Friday. I'm stuck in Starkville because I have practice tomorrow. It's probably best that I'm here because I have 2 powerpoints and a lab report due Monday so I need to work on those, but I would rather be at home with my wonderful family or in Louisiana with some awesome people :)

Technically lent ends on Holy Thursday (last night)... Glad you enjoyed your experience, and hope you get back to regular training soon. It's a sport with ups and downs... You'll be back in no time!
