HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAD!

It's a big day! My dad turns 60 today. I wish I could be home to celebrate with him tonight. Fortunately, I will be able to go home tomorrow to have an amazing birthday dinner at home with my family.

There are so many amazing memories I have with my dad. When I was younger, every night I would lay on my dad's lap and he would "tickle" my back until I fell asleep. There were many mornings that he would wake up early and go pick up biscuits and gravy from Hardy's for us to have for breakfast before school (not the healthiest choice, but it was goooood!) I used to play church league sports, and I can remember him being my biggest fan at my games. He is still my biggest fan when I am running, and I can hear him over everyone at my races encouraging me, pushing me, and cheering me on. In high school, before I could drive, there were many days he would pick me up and surprise me with ice cream or a candy bar (again, not the healthiest things, but that was one way he showed me he loved me). He still surprises me with starbucks or dessert every now and then.

I have learned so many lessons from him. He taught me the importance of working hard at whatever I do and striving to be the best I can be. He taught me to bring everything to God in prayer and not to worry about things because He is in control. He taught me to love and encourage people and to help those in need. From watching the way he lives, I have learned to pursue Christ, spend time with Him, and follow Him in every part of my life.

My dad is full of wisdom, discernment, and passion for Christ. He love others and does all he can to make others feel loved. He works extremely hard and makes so many sacrifices to help others. These are just a few things that stick out to me, but I could go on and on about how amazing my dad is. I will be happy if I can be just half as awesome as he is. I hope he has an incredible birthday because he deserves it!

Happy Birthday Dad! I love you so much!
