Sorry it has been so long since I have updated! We had our home meet on Saturday. However, due to a torrential downpour, we couldn't run the race on our cross country course because it was flooded. Our location for the race changed...to a 1000 meter horse track! We actually did a workout on the horse track a week ago, so at least we knew what it would be like. It wasn't good at all. The track is very fine gravel that gets loose and mushy the more you run on it, so the race was very slow. I ran by myself for most of the race. I couldn't catch up to the lead pack of girls, and I know I could have run a better time if I had been in a pack. I finished in 19:53. I know conditions weren't great, but I was very disappointed with my time. I wish so badly I was in better shape, but I'm just reminding myself that I am running right now with hardly any aerobic base. My finish was probably the best part of the race because a girl came from behind and almost beat me...but I didn't let her! It was way too close for my comfort though!

A few of my fans, who call me "Elf" (long story)

My finish...if you look closely at my face, you will see the pain!

My injury has been doing really well! I still ice at least once a day and stretch before and after each run. However, I am now enduring a shin splint in my right leg. It started as just tightness in my calf every so often, but this week it has worsened each run. We did a work-out this morning on pavement, which I think made it a lot worse since it hurts the most when I run on pavement. Saw the doctor today, and I am going to take tomorrow and Saturday off and ice the heck out of it. I also got anti-inflammatory meds. We have a work-out Sunday morning. I'm gonna see how it feels during the warm up and go from there. Trying to stay positive!

The best news of all...my best friend got engaged last Friday night!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am so excited for her. She is two years older than me and has been such a wonderful friend to me throughout the years. I am still a little bitter toward her fiance for proposing without me there, but I will eventually forgive him. The ring is absolutely gorgeous! Hopefully I can go home soon because it doesn't seem right that I am not there to celebrate with her :(

Mississippi State vs LSU Saturday!!! Go Dawgs!!!

i rhink 19:53 is fantastic...tough conditions and you have to give yourself time to make a comeback. i'd say that you're making a speedy comeback and doing extremely well.

Awesome finish- way to pull it out. I agree with Jan- sub 20 right now with no summer training is awesome. stay healthy and patient....think about the length of the year and you will see your results. xxxxxooooooo love the updates!
