The Need for Friends

Practice isn't til 10:00 this morning, yet I woke up at 7:00 without the help of an alarm. Guess my body just doesn't know what it feels like to sleep past then. I have 10 miles today. I love base training, just getting in miles and some faster paced runs. I ran 12 miles on Tuesday, my first 12 miler since I got injured in March. It was hard toward the end, but felt good. I am looking forward to today's run, but I am hoping the wind will hold back. I can take the cold temperatures, just not wind. I guess I should attempt to study after practice, considering I am in the middle of exams, but I have no motivation on a Saturday.

I have added something new to my pumpkin list: pumpkin waffles. Divine! They were so yummy! So this is my list of all pumpkin I have eaten this season:

Pumpkin spice latte
Pumpkin bagel with pumpkin cream cheese
Pumpkin biscuits
Pumpkin milkshake
Pumpkin bread
Pumpkin-gingerbread trifle
Pumpkin pie
Pumpkin tarts
Pumpkin spiced cake
Pumpkin waffles

I think that covers it all. I will soon be adding pumpkin ravioli! I love this season!
I have also gotten into cranberries, which are in season right now. I haven't done much cooking with them, but I like adding them to plain, old-fashioned oatmeal. Cranberry muffins sound pretty good. Maybe I will attempt those.

On a spiritual note, I met with a few fellow believers on Wednesday for breakfast, and we spent almost 2 hours discussing the Word. I have forgotten how amazing that is and how much it is needed. I grow so much more when I have accountability and people to discuss with. I am hoping that we can meet more often next semester...maybe go through a book together or a book in the bible. God did not intend for the Christian life to be done alone. Religion can be done alone, but that is not what God calls us to. He calls us to live in relationship with him, and we need the help of fellow believers to resist temptation, to overcome our struggles, to encourage us, to grow closer to God, and to become more like Him. My prayer is that God will put more people in my life to help me in all those things and that He will use me in others' lives to do the same. It is so easy to fall when you are alone, but it's not so easy when there are people who hold on to you and lift you up.
