A Feast

I went home this weekend to celebrate my dad's birthday and it was no surprise that I arrived home to a feast! My mom made seafood gumbo for an appetizer (which would have been awesome as the main course), and then my brother grilled steak and squash and zucchini and sauteed some mushrooms, and my mom cooked some bread and sweet potatoes. It was incredible! I think my dad really enjoyed it. I was so stuffed after dinner but, of course, we had dessert. My mom made an ice cream cake which was delicious! It was so nice to eat together as a family at home. My dad got an electric smoker, which he is really excited about. Hopefully they will be smoking meat to bring down to the football games!

This morning I ran 11 miles, and my mom rode her bike beside me. I was very impressed that she rode with me the whole time. She is so hard core! It went by so much faster with her beside me, and it pushed my pace.

I was not in the mood to drive back to school this afternoon because I was so exhausted. I had to stop once to take a quick 20 minute power nap. Then, I had to stop again to get coffee. After the coffee, I was good to go. I could have driven to the beach after that cup. Once I was awake, the drive was awesome! I have some of my best worship times when I am running and driving. As I was belting out songs in my car, I just wanted to close my eyes and raise my hands and praise my awesome God and Savior! I love those moments when I am so full of Him that everything else fades away, and my eyes are fixed only on him (and the road when I'm driving). I want to be that full of Him every moment of the day, not just moments every now and then. I don't want Him to be one part of my life...I want Him to be all of my life- the axis around which every part of my life rotates.

Hey Loren! Hope you are well. I have not checked in with you in so long! I am glad to hear you did 11 miles...how was it? How are all of the injuries? I am just now able to start "training" some with the running...so I am pleased and happy to be running again, although it will take a while to build back up. I hope your summer is going well!
