Spin

I did my first spin class this morning with my teammate Kelly...it kicked my butte! I am used to the regular stationary bike and my cross-training workouts. This bike is different and we had a sprint workout this morning. My legs were burning, but I loved it. It went by so much faster than the stationary bike. I love the up-beat music, the instructor who pushes us, and having people to do it with. Kelly rocked the workout! I think we are going to do this a few mornings a week at 5:45. I love the early morning!

I took yesterday off of running because my knee was more swollen and sore than usual. I'm trying to remember I should expect soreness; I am just scared of taking things too fast and then setting myself back again. Renee has been doing awesome with her recovery. She is already up to 3 miles and will probably run 4 one day this week. The highest I have gone is 2, but I have to remember that my body is different from hers and our recovery is not the same. I am going to try to run 2.5 miles today, run a little less tomorrow, and then do 3 on Friday. Saturday I will cross-train and then Sunday I will run around the same distance I ran Friday.

Lent starts today. I am going to do what I did last year because I really enjoyed last year and saw some great results. I am giving up eating past 9:00 at night and eating cereal without milk (cereal is something I will binge on if I eat it straight out of the bag). I am also adding something each day. Like last year, I will be memorizing 1 verse a day. Last year I memorized verses from different parts of the bible based on what I read every morning. This year, I am going to try to memorize as much of 1 Peter as I can. This semester I have been in a bible study with a few girls studying 1 Peter, so I think this will be a good book to memorize. I have never memorized an entire book of the bible, but I have really wanted to. I originally wanted to do James, but I think 1 Peter will be better since that is what I have been studying. This is going to be a challenging 46 days, but I am excited about it and hope I will see benefits like last year.

Happy Wednesday!
