Razorback Invite

I am so sorry that it has been a month since my last post! Things have been really busy here in Starkville with running and classes. It has been good to be back at MSU, especially with my team. I had such a hard time training without them over the break. Training with other people makes such a difference, especially when those people are just as committed to running as you are. My teammates challenge me and encourage me through each painful workout. I would not be where I am as a runner without them.

I ran my first indoor track meet on Friday night in Fayetteville, Arkansas. I was incredibly nervous! Not only was this my first time to ever see or run on an indoor track, it was also my first time to run this distance on a track: 5,000 meters...25 LAPS!! I had a tough time, mentally, running the 2 mile in outdoor track my senior year, now I would run 3.1 miles on a track half the size. Although I was nervous, I was ready to race. It had been over two months since my last race, and I wanted to see how fast I could run the 5K since I had no hills or weather conditions to slow me down. I ran against 12 other girls and finished 10th (I was so happy I didn't come in last!) My mile time was 5:46 (my high school pr for the mile); my 2 mile time was 11:46 (my high school pr for the 2 mile was 12:36). I finished the race with a time of 18:43! The last time I ran a 5K was in October, and I ran it in 19:29, so this was a big pr! I'm very happy with my time, but I know there is a lot of room for improvement.

What made my weekend even better was having my parents at the meet. I love hearing them cheer me on! I had a great time being with them. Having them there definitely made me run faster! Ever since I started running, they have been my biggest cheerleaders.

Our next race is in Lexington, KY and I will be running the 3K, which is a much faster race. I have some hard workouts this week, so hopefully they will prepare me for the race.

I am so glad you posted again- that is an amazing PR...can you imagine that you would be blasting your old PRs so easily? Okay, good luck with he 3k- sounds like something that you will be able to handle easily.
