God is at Work!

It's been a while since my last update since I can't seem to find my camera cord :(
I really wanted to upload pics from my last cooking experiment, but I guess I will just use words to describe it. Pics would be so much better, though!

Last week I made butternut squash lasagna. It may sound weird, but it was so so good (to my taste buds at least). It was a lot of work, but none of it was difficult, and it was completely worth it! I had to dice the squash, chop onions and parsley, grate cheese, and make the marinara sauce. The lasagna also had ricotta cheese and spinach in it. The recipe made two lasagnas, so I cooked one and froze the other. Since I had 1 frozen, I had a perfect reason to have company over for lunch. So I invited Nathan and Ashley (college minister and his wife) and Renee (the most amazing friend ever). I cooked the frozen lasagna, made a strawberry almond salad, and toasted garlic bread. For dessert I made apricot cobbler bars (I liked them, but they weren't my favorite). Lunch turned out really well, and I enjoyed having Nathan, Ashley, and Renee over so much. I know I probably keep mentioning this, but these people are incredible, and I am so thankful that they are in my life. Sorry if my cooking posts my be a little boring, I just get so excited about cooking :)

On a different note, my verse memory is going well! I have memorized 16 verses now. I am really enjoying it, and it's great to have verses running through my head during the day! I have finished Psalms, and I'm now reading Romans. I think memorizing scripture is very important. Psalms 119:11 says "I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you." And many times, the psalmist talks about meditating on God's word day and night. My goal in memorizing scripture is not so that I can say I know a bunch or verses, but that those verses will be on my heart and guide me in life.

I just have to say that God is AWESOME! He has really been working in my life, in our college group, and in our church. There is a small group of us that have been meeting every other Wednesday night for prayer, and it gets better each time! I truly believe in the power of prayer and the faithfulness of God. There is also a women's retreat this weekend for the college girls from church that I am so excited about! I am praying for God to work in each of our lives and bring us closer together.

Running is going pretty good right now. Nothing too exciting. This week is a base training week, which I love! Two 10 milers and a hill workout. My leg is doing a little better, but still in pain. At least I am still able to run!
