Chili Pepper Invitational

Sorry I have been so lazy on updating my blog. It has been hard to find the time lately. This past weekend we ran in Fayetteville, Arkansas at the Chili Pepper Invitational. It was the first 6k of the season. The weather was perfect, in my opinion...mid 40's. The only disadvantage was the wind, but it wasn't too bad. I felt really good throughout the whole race. Looking back, I wish I would have been more aggressive in the middle of the race, but I'm happy with how I did. I finished 3rd for my team in 23:26, mainly because our usual top finishers were either sick or didn't have a great race. It was a good, fun race, though, and I am excited about our next meet...SEC Championships!!!! (at Ole Miss) This will be another 6k, and I'm hoping to knock down my time. I would really like to get under 23 minutes by the end of the season.

I have been on a runner's high today. This morning, we did 20X400's at an average of 82 seconds, with 90 seconds recovery between each. The most 400's I've done is 16, and that was broken into sets of 4. I was really nervous about the workout and didn't know if I would survive, but I was surprised at how well the workout went. I felt really good through all the reps. The last 4 were pretty rough, but felt good. Thursday we have 10X600's. Hopefully they will go as well as today did.

Other than running, nothing too exciting has been going on. Classes have been surprisingly easy, and I haven't had too much work to do. One positive thing is that I have been able to get to know a couple of the freshmen girls on my team a lot better in the past week. They are so sweet, and really solid, mature girls. I am excited to hang out with them and get to know them better.

I will try to be better about updating! Hope you are enjoying this wonderful fall weather as much as I am!
