Drug Test

The NCAA does random drug testing for college athletes. This morning I had my first one. This may be a little TMI, but I think it's a pretty funny story. For the drug test, a woman has to be in the restroom while you pee. I went to do the test right when I woke up so that I wouldn't have a problem using the restroom. Although I really had to pee and the lady in the bathroom with me turned the faucet on, I could not go for the life of me. I wasn't embarrassed or anything, I just couldn't go. I managed to do a little bit, but apparently it wasn't enough so the lady told me to walk around a little bit, try to relax, and get something to drink. I downed a lot of water in the next five minutes and went back in for round two. It took me a while, but I was finally able to give her the amount she needed. When she left, I was able to go normally. It was a very embarrassing experience for me. I felt like such an idiot. I'm sure the lady was very annoyed and just thinking to herself, "Just pee in the cup, it's not that hard." I'm dreading having to do another drug test in the future! For some reason, I have such a hard time using the restroom in public.

I went out to eat tonight to a really cute, family-owned (I think) Chinese restaurant. They have the best cheese wantons! I went with my teammate and great friend, Renee. It was so great to spend time with her and catch up. She is such a wonderful friend and someone who I can really talk to and trust. It's really been hard this semester to spend time with people outside of running. I need to do a better job of working on my relationships. I not only want to be closer to the other girls on my team, but also form relationships with people outside of my team.

We have our last cross country meet Saturday: Regionals in Tuscloosa. I'm hoping I will feel better than I did at SEC's. I think our team has a lot of potential. Hopefully we will all have a good race Saturday!

your pee test brings back memories. for some reason, i ALWAYS got chosen for testing. it was such a bummer b/c i had to go (literally!) before morning practice so it was an extra early morning. i also struggled when forced to pee on the spot in front of someone. i had to always put my shirt up in my bra and do a spin with my pants on the floor. did they make you do that? well, after that shock i could never go. it usually took me a good five trys and the football players would make fun of me for being so shy about it. (we would all be in the same holding room waiting to get our names called). i always went back to that room completely defeated and would have to wait my turn AGAIN. it was awful!
