What Went Wrong?

Saturday was the big SEC Championship race in Oxford. I wish I could find something positive to say about it, but the only thing I can think of is that it was a beautiful day and I got to see my family. In regards to the race itself, nothing good comes to mind. I felt awful. My whole body. The entire race. It wasn't muscle pain or soreness, I didn't feel sick, I just could not run fast. I guess it felt like fatigue. I couldn't get my legs to move. The course was awful! It had rained all day on Friday, so the ground was mushy and muddy. I'm pretty sure there were many spots where my shoes were an inch deep in either water or mud. I don't know why I didn't feel well, and I don't want to make any excuses. It just wasn't a good race.

But that race is over, and I have one more race to focus on: regionals. I'm going to focus on my training these next 2 weeks and hope that I feel better in the next race. Tomorrow is an 8 mile tempo run over hills. Hopefully I can keep it at a steady, but fast, pace.

Loving this beautiful fall weather!

you can do it! keep the focus. think the word focus to yourself with training and the upcoming race. And, think of the next two weeks not as giving fitness, but as sharpening. perhaps you were feeling fatigue this past race and need to fine tune your body to get ready for the next big day. so proud of you!!!!!!! we learn more from the races that don't go as planned than the ones that are easy. you will do great!!!
