Long Run and Tempo
I am starting to feel more like a runner again (although I still have a long way to go). Last Saturday I did my longest run in over 4 months: 1 hour. It felt great! My legs were sore at the end and I was very tired from running in the heat and from being up since 3:30 that morning (different story), but my body felt good. Yesterday I had my first workout since the end of November. I had a 3 mile tempo run. It felt so weird doing the full warm-up routine, and I actually had a little bit of trouble remembering everything I was supposed to do before starting a work out. My splits were 6:30, 6:40, 6:40, to complete the 3 miles in 19:50. Overall, I am pleased with the workout considering I haven't done anything close to this pace in almost 5 months and I was running by myself. I wish my first mile would have been the slowest and I could have gotten faster each mile, but I had no idea what pace I was going when I started. It felt great to go at a faster pace, and I felt good on my recovery run this morning. I am planning on running 70 minutes on Monday with the team. I hope I can keep up with them!
